As children we were taught to make a Christmas list and to plead for the things we wanted. But after opening our much-coveted gifts from Santa, did we ever think to write a heartfelt thank you letter? Probably not! Yet, part of being “nice” is remembering to thank the people who go out of their way to help you - without thought of personal gain, or who sacrifice their own goals to allow you to achieve yours.
This Holiday Season, think about the love that motivated your parents or high school teachers and mentors to send you to college, and think about all that you have accomplished with their help. Take the time to thank them for everything they have done, and show them your work. Seeing you flourish is their greatest reward.
Thanking people should be a lifelong habit. It feels good, and it strengthens bonds that will help you throughout your very bright future.
